With the 54th edition of the Tolosa International Choral Competition concluded, the Basque choir Suhar Korua won the highest award and with it the nomination to participate in the European Grand Prix for Choral Singing to be held in Varna in September 2024.

The basque choir was awarded the Basque Government award for the best interpretation of a Basque work after singing Ipar haize hotz zuria, by Xabier Sarasola. They also took home first prize in the Basque Song and Popular Music category for chamber choirs. In this section, the second prize went to La Pura Fuente Choir, from Japan; and the third was divided between Somniun Ensemble, from Finland, and Shanghai Rainbow Chamber Singers, from China.

Also in the Polyphony category, the highest-rated performances were those of Suhar Korua, followed by those of Shanghai Rainbow Chamber Singers and Somnium Ensemble. The public agreed with the jury highlighting the fantastic work of Suhar Korua and awarding them the public award.

In vocal groups, apart from Sacred Music, the first prize traveled to Italy with Coro Giovanile With Us. Second prize went to Male Ensemble Philippines, from the Philippines and third to Phoenix Consort, from the United Kingdom. The Filipino group was chosen as the best in the Profane Music section, followed by Coro Giovanile With Us and the Phoenix Consort.

The jury for this edition was made up of Xabier Sarasola (Basque Country), Florian Benfer (Germany-Sweden), Maria Goundorina (Russia-Sweden), Stojan Kuret (Italy-Slovenia), Cameron La Barr (USA), Janis Ozols (Latvia) and Avip Priatna (Indonesia).
